Hi my name is Shari and I live in MO! I have been actively losing weight since May 2011 and am continuing to do so until I hit my goal weight. As of today I have lost 120 pounds and I have around 80 more to go..If anyone would like to partner up just to keep each other motivated let me know. I find when I have others to be accountable to then I do so much better...plus it helps when others know the struggle I go through on some days..its not easy but well worth the results when I see the scale going down! Hi shari, My name is Alena. I would love to buddy up if you are up to sharing what you do/have done and we can keep one another accountable. I live in UT, although used to live in St. Joseph, MO and Olathe, KS. Where is MO are you from? I have been married for 20 years on the 18th of this month and have six wonderful kids (5 living) aged 3-18. I have only one boy and with all my girls I was on bedrest with many health problems. My boy was a great pregnancy. =) I am currently a full-time Biology student as well as the Student Representative President at Utah State University. I am also a traditional midwife and breastfeeding educator, although that has all taken a back seat to my Biology program and campus work. I have about 150 lbs to lose and I'm overwhelmed. I'm trying to remember how to balance everything and make time for myself. I am a believer in clean-eating, but am not great for packing food for on the go...therefore, as much as I believe in clean eating, I make the mistake of hitting a drive through on my way to or from classes. My other big downfall is making sure I get enough water in the winter months. But, I can be a good cheerleader and if you tell me exactly what you need to be held accountable to, I can do that. So, what do you think?? Alena

Hi Alena, I would be interested in buddying up as well. Right now I work out a few days a week which needs to be more..I follow or try to the Atkins Diet by doing low carbs and I mix it up with the South Beach Diet..I basically try to stay away from carbs for the most part! I drink 128 ounces of water a day sometimes more...I have found that if you get a big 32 ounce cup and fill it and take it with you while you drive it makes it so much easier drinking all your water you need for a day! When I first started drinking water it was hard but its at the point now where I crave it. I use to drink 6 cans of pepsi a day not anymore ! I take my water cup everywhere with me..it does get easier! I am getting ready to go on vacation for a month so I might not be on here for a lot of that time....depending on internet access where we are..but would love to talk further with you..I know its hard to get started on dieting..but it does get easier once you have a routine...I like you was very overwhelmed...I had over 220 pounds to lose..now i have about 100 more to go...and with every pound you lose you see your goals getting closer...some people say dont weigh yourself everyday..but I do ...that way I am accountable everyday I step on that scale..it also helps me know and figure out what I ate the day before that could have made me gain a pound...What I do is diet for about 2 months take a break for a month and eat more but relearn what I can eat and how much to maintain that way when I get to my goal weight I will know how to maintain..its basically relearning how to eat and what to eat...right before I go back to the 2 months of dieting I eat what I want and what I will miss..I have one day of that...I am just trying to find different ways to lose the weight.. I live just outside of St. Louis MO...city called O'Fallon...I have been married for 13 years we do not have any children except our dogs I do childcare for a living though so I am always around kids..I have been doing that for over 20 years..I am 45 and finally felt it was time to take control of my life and weight...and the best thing to have is a wonderful support system....I hope this helps you decide on partnering up...and please partner up with as many people as you can because the more help the easier it is.. Hi Shari, Sounds like it is a match!! My new semester starts today. My goal is going to be water, water, water. I limit my carbs to fruits (3) and veggies and occasional quinoa or brown rice...but I do use dry beans as well. Most grains don't do well for me. Okay, so we will touch base as you are able since you are getting ready for vacation. Do we just continue on this thread?? Thanks a ton and be good to yourself!! Alena
